The flat Esquilino is located in via Panisperna in a faithful restored town house from the 17th century. The position of this street is very good and central in the well-known historical part of Rome. In the ancient Rome this area was called “Esquilin”, one of the 7 hills, where the noble persons, the patricians, had their villas. Today this area is just right for those who want to see and discover the historical center with all its well-known sights, on foot: the churches S. Maria Maggiore and S. Pietro in Vincoli, the Colosseum, the Forum Romanum, The Forums of the Roman Emperors, the Domus Aurea of Nero, the thermal springs of Diokletian, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia and so on…Via Panisperna is located in a reduced-traffic area, permitted only for residents. Also the small electric bus 117 passes nearby, you can take it to reach the Lateran Basilica and the Piazza del Popolo. In Via Nazionale there are also other busses which connect you with the Vatican City and the south of Rome.Via Panisperna and Via dei Serpenti were the streets of the artist-craftsmen, still today you can find the small stores, and there are many typical trattorias and pizzerias.
