Using vernacular materials such as palm slats, and palm thatch roofs and combining them with glass, aluminum and stainless steel, local Architect Rafael E. Selman creates what can be called rustic minimalism. According to Selman the tropical architectural style of Villa Los Mangos creates harmony by utilizing the modern clean minimalist form with the rustic and autochthonous materials like the slate stone, the thatched roofs and in particular the eucalyptus wood used throughout.
