Huntirov is a small village in the Czech Republic, 130 km north of Prague. It is located on the border of the Ceske Svycarsko (Czech Switzerland) National Park, a name coined by 2 Swiss artists in the 18th Century as it reminded them of their homeland.You are unlikely to encounter any other tourists in Huntirov, although you will in the National Park, mostly Czech and some German. There is a local pub and a small shop in the village.The park is great for hiking and mountain biking with over 1000 km of trails criss-crossing the region with Saxon hamlets made up of huge wooden farmsteads typical of the area. Trails pass right outside the cottage. The nearest lake is 3km away at Stara Oleska which is good for swimming and fishing.The centre piece of the room and indeed of this type of house typical of the area is the wood burning oven/stove or pec. We had hoped to restore it but it was simply beyond repair and so we had it re-built exactly as it was before, sourcing exact copies of the original tiles.The furniture mostly consists of pieces previously used in the house. In fact the majority of the crockery, rugs, pictures and other household items have all been previously used in the house over the years, some dating as far back as the Second World War.There is under floor heating in the kitchen/diner and both bathrooms and electric heaters in all of the bedrooms and living room. Garden - approximately 750 square metres with some established trees including fruit trees, also more recently introduced plants and shrubs. There is a well which has been covered for safety.Car parking for up to 3 cars.
There is no internet connection although there is a mobile signal; so if you want to connect to the internet you need to bring mobile connect or some other similar software. The total area of the cottage is approximately 150 square meters.
